Job Description

We are seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Kitchen Porter to join our dynamic team in Nottingham. As a Kitchen Porter, you will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and organisation within our kitchen and service areas. We are looking for a friendly, hard-working and approachable team member who is committed to supporting our culinary team and ensuring a smooth, efficient operation. If you are organised, resilient, and take pride in your work, we would love to hear from you.

  • Assist with the preparation of food and snacks in a timely and efficient manner, following all food safety and hygiene protocols
  • Maintain impeccable cleanliness and organisation standards throughout the kitchen and restaurant areas, including floors, surfaces, and storage areas
  • Wash, clean, and sterilise all kitchen equipment, crockery, cutlery, and service items to the highest standards
  • Support the kitchen team by performing a variety of tasks as required, demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative approach
  • Dispose of waste materials responsibly and in accordance with health and safety regulations
  • Monitor stock levels of cleaning and kitchen supplies, reporting shortages to the appropriate team member
  • Maintain personal hygiene and wear appropriate protective clothing at all times
  • Respond promptly to requests from kitchen and front-of-house staff, ensuring seamless teamwork
  • Contribute to a positive, inclusive working environment where all team members are valued and respected

Qualifications

Required Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong work ethic and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organisation
  • Excellent time-keeping and reliability
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks
  • Attention to detail and thoroughness in all duties
  • Effective communication and people skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures and equipment
  • Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a kitchen environment

Desirable Skills:

  • Previous experience in a kitchen, catering, or hospitality environment
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Familiarity with commercial kitchen equipment
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment

Essential Requirements:

  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) disclosure (this will be obtained as part of the recruitment process)
  • Right to work in the United Kingdom

Education and Certifications:

  • None required; however, relevant food safety or health and hygiene certifications are desirable
