What you'll do at work

As an Apprentice Kitchen Team Leader with Hungry Horse, your motivational skills and passion for customer care make you the perfect person to lead our front of house teams. You'll ensure that each team member knows their stuff and can wow customers with a 5* experience. And it doesn't stop with food and drink! From quizzes to music evenings - your creativity and organisational skills can bring communities closer together.

  • Delivered through work-based training with a mix of face-to-face sessions and remote Team calls
  • Support from a mentor within the workplace
  • Obtain Functional Skills in English and maths (if needed)
  • Reviews every 12 weeks with feedback sessions

Course contents

  • Supervise the production of menu items and dishes
  • Ensure deliveries are checked and stored correctly
  • Monitor the use and maintenance of food production equipment
  • Acquire and share information regarding product range, brand development, promotions, and trends
  • Monitor food production to meet clients’ needs
  • Implement food safety management systems
  • Ensure legislative compliance and due diligence
  • Support team members for timely delivery of high-quality food
  • Maintain harmony across the team and with colleagues
  • Use effective communication methods
  • Identify development needs for self and team
  • Use techniques to support cost reduction, improve performance, revenue, profit margins, and customers’ experience
  • Monitor costs and set realistic targets
  • Control resource allocation and use sustainable practices
  • Use technology to improve efficiency and productivity
  • Risk assess situations and intervene to minimise risk
  • Carry out activities in line with business/brand values
