Occupational Therapy Role
Occupational therapy is a client-centred health profession concerned with promoting health and wellbeing through occupation. The primary goal of occupational therapy is to enable people to participate in the activities of everyday life. Occupational therapists achieve this outcome by working with people and communities to enhance their ability to engage in the occupations they want to, need to, or are expected to do, or by modifying the occupation or the environment to better support their occupational engagement. (WFOT 2012)
We are looking for an experienced and adaptable occupational therapist who is HCPC registered.
As part of our Adult Mental Health Inpatient Occupational Therapy Service, the post holder will manage their own specialist caseload. Using evidence-based practice and patient-centred principles, they will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual and group interventions for patients with complex mental health needs. They will demonstrate excellent communication, leadership skills, and an enthusiasm for collaborative practice within an inpatient mental health context.
For this post, based in the Recovery and Resource Centre at Royal Cornhill Hospital, you can expect to be fully supported through our established system of supervision and personal development programmes. We have a strong commitment to MDT working, clinical governance, CPD, and evidence-based practice. We fully support undergraduate OT training programmes and regularly accept students on practice placements.
Please note that we have an additional Band 6 post. It is anticipated that applicants for both posts will only need to follow one interview process to be considered for both.
Interviews will take place week commencing 28 September 2026

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
