Knowledge Exchange (KE) Associate
A Knowledge Exchange (KE) Associate is sought by the Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering to support the activities of the Energy for Development (EfD) team, with a focus on multi-disciplinary renewable energy access work in Malawi, Zambia and Rwanda. The KE Associate will support KE and project management activities across a portfolio of projects managed by the team – with an initial focus on The Scottish Global Renewables Centre (GRC).
The GRC brings together partners across academia, industry, government and communities to accelerate the sustainable deployment of renewable energy technologies in diverse international contexts. We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly organised Knowledge Exchange Associate to support the delivery and impact of this growing programme.
Working closely with the Centre leadership team and international partners, you will play a central role in project coordination, stakeholder engagement and the development of knowledge capture, synthesis, communication and dissemination activities across the programme. You will help identify, document and communicate lessons learned from renewable energy projects and partnerships, ensuring that knowledge is effectively shared among researchers, practitioners, policymakers and funding bodies.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who enjoys working across disciplines and cultures, can rapidly develop an understanding of new technical subjects, and is passionate about transforming complex information into accessible and useful insights. The successful candidate will be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and communication formats, including workshops, interviews, case studies, reports, digital content, presentations and learning resources. They will work collaboratively with technical specialists to translate emerging evidence and project outcomes into materials that support learning, decision-making and future programme development.
As a Knowledge Exchange Associate, as part of a wider knowledge exchange / research group or programme you will develop knowledge exchange objectives and proposals for own or joint knowledge exchange activities and play a lead role in relation to a specific project/s or part of a broader project, with guidance from senior colleagues as required. You will conduct individual and/or collaborative knowledge exchange activities, including determining appropriate methods and contributing to the development of new knowledge exchange methods, continually reflecting on practice/methodology to enhance delivery to partners.

To be considered for the role, you will have a good honours degree and PhD / higher degree (or equivalent professional experience) in appropriate discipline. You will have sufficient breadth or depth of knowledge in the relevant discipline/s to contribute to knowledge exchange programmes and to the development of knowledge exchange activities. You will have the ability to conduct individual knowledge exchange projects, work directly and independently with clients, and to prepare new knowledge exchange proposals.
Whilst not essential for the role, applications are welcomed from candidates with: membership/working towards membership of a relevant Chartered/professional body (including the Higher Education Academy), experience of relevant student supervision and teaching activities.
