Knowledge Lawyer
We are seeking a Knowledge Lawyer to join our Marine, Trade and Commodities team in London. This role will be responsible for managing and delivering key knowledge initiatives across the practice, supporting lawyers with high-quality legal know-how, training, precedents and market insights. Working closely with partners, fee earners and business services teams across the firm, you will play an integral role in strengthening knowledge sharing, supporting business development initiatives and driving innovation through legal technology and AI.

The Team
The Marine, Trade and Commodities team advises clients across the shipping, trade and commodities sectors on a broad range of complex disputes and related matters. Working as part of a global practice, the team supports clients operating in dynamic international markets and collaborates closely across jurisdictions to deliver practical and commercially focused legal solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Knowledge Management
- Monitor legal developments, industry trends and regulatory changes affecting the marine, trade and commodities sector, assessing their impact and communicating key updates to the team.
- Maintain, develop and improve the team's know-how resources, including precedents, practice guidance, templates, checklists and knowledge databases.
- Promote knowledge sharing and encourage contributions to the team's know-how collection through team meetings, matter debriefs and other knowledge initiatives.
- Manage and respond to ad hoc knowledge queries from lawyers within the team.
- Identify opportunities to reuse and repurpose knowledge and content across internal and external channels.
Market-Facing Content
- Work with partners, Business Development and Knowledge colleagues to develop and deliver a market-facing content plan aligned to the team's strategic priorities.
- Produce and support the creation of client alerts, briefings, thought leadership, reports, publications and training materials.
- Identify emerging legal, regulatory and market developments and translate them into practical and commercially relevant content for clients.
- Support campaigns and thought leadership initiatives that enhance the team's profile within the marine, trade and commodities markets.
Legal Delivery, Technology and AI
- Identify opportunities to improve legal service delivery through knowledge management, process improvement, technology and AI.
- Support the development and implementation of practical AI and technology use cases within the practice.
- Work with lawyers, Knowledge and Legal Delivery teams to evaluate new tools, processes and ways of working.
- Support the adoption of approved AI and technology solutions through guidance, training and sharing best practice.
- Promote the use of standardised documents, playbooks, templates and other reusable knowledge assets to improve efficiency and consistency.

Training
- Support the development and delivery of the team's training curriculum in the UK and internationally.
- Create and deliver training materials, presentations and e-learning content.
- Work closely with Legal Development and other stakeholders to identify and address ongoing learning needs.
- Support client training programmes and identify opportunities to adapt internal training materials for external use.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Qualified solicitor admitted in England & Wales.
- Minimum 5 years' post-qualification experience as a practising lawyer or Knowledge Lawyer with direct involvement in marine, trade and commodities disputes.
- Previous experience in a knowledge, professional support or similar role is desirable.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Strong presentation and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to engage with senior lawyers and business leaders.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Demonstrated interest in legal innovation, technology and AI.
- Client-focused, commercially aware and proactive in approach.
- High attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality work.
