Company Description
The Embassy of Sweden in London represents Sweden and the Swedish government in the United Kingdom, promoting Swedish interests and supporting strong bilateral relations. It provides consular services to Swedish citizens living in or visiting the UK, as well as immigration-related services. The Embassy is actively involved in trade and investment promotion, particularly in tech, life sciences, green energy, and design, working closely with local partners across sectors. As a driving force in Team Sweden cooperation, the Embassy collaborates with Business Sweden, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce, and Visit Sweden to strengthen economic and cultural ties. The Embassy maintains an active presence on social media and its website to share information, events, and guidance for the public.
Role Description
The Konsulär handläggare (Consular Case Officer) is a full-time, on-site role based at the Embassy of Sweden in the London Area, United Kingdom. In this role, the individual will handle consular cases, including assistance to Swedish citizens in need, passport and civil registration matters, and support with immigration-related inquiries in line with Swedish and UK regulations. The Konsulär handläggare will also contribute to developing and maintaining efficient consular routines, assist with general administrative duties within the section, and support continuous improvements in service quality and compliance with internal guidelines.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in preparation and order processing, with the ability to manage consular case files and documentation efficiently.
- Experience in material handling and order picking, or similar organizational skills, to manage passports, forms, and other sensitive documents securely.
- Demonstrated high level of accuracy and attention to detail in administrative work, data entry, and record-keeping.
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills in Swedish and English; additional languages are an asset.
- Previous experience in consular services, public administration, customer service, or a related field is desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills, cultural awareness, and the ability to work professionally with people in stressful or sensitive situations.
- Proficient with standard office software and digital case management systems; ability to learn new tools quickly.
- Organized, reliable, and able to work both independently and collaboratively within a small team environment.
