KS1 Teacher – Primary School

A welcoming and ambitious primary school in Merton is seeking an enthusiastic KS1 Teacher to join its collaborative teaching team.
The school provides a broad and engaging curriculum, with a strong focus on early reading, communication and building secure foundations in English and mathematics. The successful KS1 Teacher will create a stimulating classroom where pupils feel confident, supported and excited to learn.
Responsibilities
- Planning and delivering engaging lessons across the KS1 curriculum
- Teaching systematic synthetic phonics and supporting early reading
- Developing pupils’ writing, mathematics and communication skills
- Using assessment to plan appropriate support and challenge
- Adapting teaching for pupils with SEND, EAL or gaps in learning
- Maintaining a positive and well-managed classroom
- Working closely with teaching assistants and year-group colleagues
- Communicating pupils’ progress to parents and carers
- Contributing to wider school life and curriculum development

Requirements
- UK Qualified Teacher Status
- Recent experience teaching in Key Stage 1
- Good knowledge of the primary curriculum and phonics
- Strong planning, assessment and behaviour-management skills
- A creative and nurturing approach
- A commitment to inclusive teaching and high expectations
- Applications are welcomed from ECTs and experienced teachers
- An enhanced DBS check, or willingness to complete one
