A welcoming school in Southall is looking for a SEND Development Practitioner to join its team from January, supporting pupils with additional needs while developing valuable specialist experience of your own.
If you're serious about building a longer-term career in SEND or education, this could be an important next step.
Learn by Making a Difference
You'll work directly with children who may need additional support with learning, communication, emotional regulation, behaviour or social interaction.
Needs May Include
- Autism (ASC)
- ADHD
- SEMH
- Speech & Language Needs
- Sensory Differences
- Learning Difficulties
Rather than simply helping pupils complete their work, you'll learn to recognise the barriers preventing them from participating in the first place.
That could mean adapting how an activity is presented.
Helping a pupil regulate before returning to learning.
Finding a different way to communicate an instruction.
Or gradually helping a child become confident enough to do something independently.

- Developing a broader understanding of inclusive education.
Where Could SEND Take Your Career?
SEND experience can create pathways into many different areas of education.
You might want to become an HLTA or specialist Teaching Assistant.
You could discover an interest in SEMH, behaviour, pastoral support or safeguarding.
You may eventually want to train as a teacher or SENCO.

- Is interested in understanding individual needs rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.
- Builds positive and professional relationships with pupils.
- Can remain calm when situations become challenging.
- Is willing to learn new strategies and approaches.
- Can work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals.
- Takes feedback positively and wants to keep developing.
- Is considering a longer-term career within education or SEND.
An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, will be required.
