About the Role

1st January 2027 to 31st August 2027
St Edmund's College Prep School is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, talented, and dedicated Prep School Teacher to join our friendly and supportive team for a period of maternity cover.
This is an exciting opportunity for an inspirational teacher who is passionate about providing an outstanding education and nurturing the academic, pastoral, and personal development of every child. We are looking for someone who will embrace our caring community, foster a love of learning, and help every pupil achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities
As a Prep School Teacher, you will:
- Deliver engaging and inspiring lessons that challenge and motivate pupils.
- Plan and assess learning to ensure excellent progress for all children.
- Create a stimulating classroom environment that promotes curiosity, confidence, and independence.
- Differentiate teaching to meet the needs of all learners.
- Take responsibility for the academic progress, wellbeing, and pastoral care of your class.
- Build strong relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues to support each child's development.
- Make effective use of assessment to inform teaching and raise standards.
- Promote high expectations of behaviour, achievement, and personal responsibility.
- Embrace the College's High-Performance Learning (HPL) philosophy, encouraging pupils to develop the attitudes and attributes needed for lifelong success.
- Play a full and active part in the wider life of the Prep School.

Requirements
We are looking for a teacher who:
- Is an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations of pupils.
- Has a passion for delivering an engaging and creative curriculum.
- Is committed to outstanding pastoral care and developing the whole child.
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Works collaboratively and contributes positively to school life.
- Shares our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Important Information
The post will involve close contact with, and a high degree of responsibility for, children and young adults. The majority of this will be regulated activity and as such an enhanced DBS check (which includes childrens barred list information) will be required in advance of appointment.

Suitable candidates may be interviewed before the closing date, and we reserve the right to withdraw the position if an early appointment is made.

We will seek references on short-listed candidates that will include questions about past disciplinary actions or allegations in relation to behaviour with children and may approach previous employers for information to verify particular experience or qualifications before interview.
This role is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013, and 2020.
