Role Description

UTC Leeds is looking to appoint a Pastoral Manager to join our committed and dynamic team. The suitable candidate will have relevant experience of working with students to promote good behaviour and consistent attendance. You will have a sound understanding of how to promote a growth mind-set in our students to help them become resilient learners who realise their full potential through the application of our dynamic Behaviour Policy. The role also includes supporting the Designated Safeguarding Lead in dealing with safeguarding matters, providing advice and support to staff, liaising with the Local Authority, and working with a range of other agencies.

  • To lead the development of the most effective pastoral approaches for students with identified barriers to learning.
  • To lead key metrics (such as attendance, behavior, attainment) in order to support the Assistant Principal in identifying and monitoring key groups and individuals.
  • To provide professional guidance in the area of safeguarding in order to ensure high quality support experiences for all students.
  • To identify students with barriers to learning and to design and implement appropriate programmes of support to meet their needs.
  • To monitor and evaluate the implementation and impact of these programmes and any other additional interventions.
  • To manage and deploy a team (profile team leaders) and monitor their effectiveness in raising achievement and monitoring the personal development of students.
  • To raise student aspirations of their own attainment and achievement so that they are able to make significant progress in line with the College's expectations.
  • To maintain up to date records of intervention for groups and individual students and report the impact of interventions.
  • To maintain up to date records of safeguarding and child protection incidents in line with regulations.
