An Arborist Apprentice is sought to assist in all areas of tree work.
No prior experience is required, but a keen interest in the industry and a ‘can-do’ attitude are vital. The role involves joining a team of arborists and requires hard work, a health and safety consciousness, good manners, and respect for peers. The apprentice will learn on the job through hands-on experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Recognizing health and safety needs onsite
- Completing risk assessments
- Selecting appropriate equipment
- Setting out workplace signage
- Processing tree work arisings
- Maintaining tools and equipment
- Recognizing tree species
- Performing formative pruning
- Felling small trees
- Supporting aerial tree workers
- Performing aerial rescues
- Working safely at height

Training and Qualifications
The apprenticeship includes training with Askham Bryan College for the Arborist (level 2) qualification. Essential qualifications include:
