AI & Automation Practitioner Apprentice
This opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about AI, technology and automation. Working across BMT, you'll help improve business processes through AI solutions, automation and data insights while completing a Level 4 AI & Automation Practitioner apprenticeship and contributing to real projects.
Key Responsibilities
AI & Automation
- Identify repetitive, manual and time-consuming business processes that could benefit from automation
- Work with colleagues to understand existing processes and identify opportunities for improvement
- Map current processes and design more efficient automated workflows
- Configure and develop automation solutions using platforms such as Microsoft Power Automate, Zapier and other low-code/no-code tools
- Explore practical applications of generative AI and AI assistants across the business
- Develop AI-powered workflows to support administrative, operational, sales and customer service activities
- Test, monitor and improve automated processes to ensure they deliver the expected results
- Maintain documentation for automation workflows and AI solutions
Data & Business Intelligence
- Collect, organise and analyse business data to identify trends and opportunities
- Support the creation of reports and dashboards to provide greater visibility of business performance
- Explore how data from systems such as CRM, project management, customer support and resource management platforms can be used more effectively
- Help identify opportunities to improve data quality, accuracy and accessibility
- Use data to support better decision-making across the business

- Work with different departments to understand how they currently operate
- Identify bottlenecks, duplication and inefficiencies within business processes
- Recommend technology-led improvements
- Support the implementation and adoption of new digital tools and processes
- Measure the impact of automation projects and identify further opportunities for improvement
- Help colleagues understand and adopt new AI and automation solutions
Customer & Operational Support
- Explore opportunities to automate customer communications, enquiries, follow-ups and reporting
- Investigate how AI could support BMT's customer service and technical support operations
- Look at ways to streamline processes around projects, installations, maintenance and support
- Explore how information from customer and project data can be used to improve service delivery
- Support the development of automated reporting for projects, customers and internal operations
AI Governance & Security
- Follow BMT's policies relating to data protection, security and confidentiality
- Develop an understanding of responsible and ethical AI use
- Consider data privacy, security and compliance when implementing AI solutions
- Help establish appropriate processes for reviewing and monitoring AI-generated outputs
- Ensure automated solutions are tested before being introduced into business-critical processes
Training course
Artificial intelligence (AI) and automation practitioner (level 4)
Essential qualifications
- GCSE in:
- 3 more other than English and Maths (grade A*-C/ 9-4)
- English (grade A*-C/ 9-4)
- Maths (grade A*-C/ 9-4)
- Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience. The apprenticeship can be adjusted to reflect what you already know.
