What You'll Do
The LAB Performance Director acts as a senior strategic partner to leadership in the LAB (London, Amsterdam, and Brussels) system, driving commercial performance by working closely with MDPs to align Associates, Senior Associates, and Consultants (A-Cs) to business pipeline and demand. Responsible for shaping and delivering the LAB Performance strategy for A-Cs, the Director leads and sets the direction for the LAB A-C Performance Team, building team capability and ensuring a consistent, transparent, and commercially focused approach to performance partnering. This role also plays a critical role across all Performance Partnering teams to thought partner on change management, process improvements, insights generation, and special projects, across all LAB-wide cohorts. Reporting to the LAB Talent & Performance Senior Director, this role works in close partnership with the LAB PA & PPPL Performance Partner Director and LAB Ringfence Performance Partner Director, as well as being a trusted advisor to the LAB People & Operations Executive Director, People Chair, PA Nodes, and broader MDP group.
What You’ll Do
- Own the A-C performance strategy across the LAB system, optimizing A-C deployment, utilization, and billability to minimize capacity gaps by partnering with case teams and Performance Partners to balance commercial priorities with long-term pipeline health.
- Lead pipeline demand management across all cases translating PA & PPPL and Ringfence Performance Partner inputs into resourcing decisions by overseeing deployment of A-Cs, including freecap allocations, to maximize commercial impact.
- Proactively address the root causes of recurring staffing gaps and exceptions. Monitor all LAB-wide cohorts staffing data and produce dashboards for senior leadership demonstrating measures taken to move towards agreed targets on key metrics (e.g. billability, cross-system staffing).
- Set the strategic direction for and line manage the A-C Performance Team, creating a collaborative and fungible team equipped to balance commercial needs with individual development. Lead the team’s performance management, setting clear expectations and supporting progress through regular coaching, feedback, and development conversations.
- Act as the senior escalation point for all A-C staffing topics, managing complex client prioritization decisions across LAB geos/businesses/Practice Areas while ensuring A-Cs experience staffing and development decisions as transparent and clear.
- Oversee the Consultant affiliation process to support timely, performance-based affiliation decisions.
- Serve as strategic counsel, providing insights and recommendations to the LAB Talent & Performance Senior Director, MT, and MDPs.
- Set the direction for transformation initiatives, empowering the A-C Performance Team to drive project management and implementation, while partnering with CD Expertise, HR, Finance, Ringfence Performance, PA & PPPL Performance, Regional, and Global teams to ensure alignment and share best practices.
- Identify and embed process improvements and stronger ways of working, ensuring processes are efficient, scalable, and responsive to evolving business and commercial priorities, including through automation and AI optimization.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
