Lab Support Technician / Full Time / Days
The Laboratory Support Technician ensures the accurate, timely, and compliant collection, processing, and management of laboratory specimens while delivering excellent customer service, supporting laboratory operations, and contributing to high-quality patient care through adherence to established standards and continuous quality improvement.
The Laboratory Support Technician is an onsite position.
Essential Functions
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting patients and customers, answering inquiries, and serving as a knowledgeable laboratory resource.
- Collect patient specimens competently and efficiently across outpatient, inpatient, and emergency settings while minimizing patient discomfort.
- Verify specimen and test requirements by ensuring proper collection, adequacy of samples, and instructing patients on self-collection when needed.
- Resolve specimen and order-related issues by assessing requirements, troubleshooting discrepancies, documenting problems, and coordinating recollection when necessary.
- Process and manage specimens and laboratory information by preparing samples for testing or transport, utilizing information systems accurately, and participating in quality improvement activities.
- Prepare, prevent, protect and respond to support our culture of safety.
