Lab Tech, Admin Support
We are looking for a Lab Tech, Admin Support to join our dynamic and thriving Histology team.
This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to step into the world of forensics, while learning and developing key laboratory and administration skills.
Forensic Access is one of the UK’s leading Forensic Science companies with ambitious growth plans, to match the ever changing and growing industry.
The role involves providing practical laboratory and administrative support within a specialist histology laboratory, helping to maintain an accurate, safe and efficient service.
Working within defined procedures and their demonstrated scope of competence, under the supervision of qualified laboratory staff.
Please note: Due to the highly sensitive nature of the work, applicants should note that security clearance is required for this role. To gain security clearance you must have five years continuous residency in the UK. Criminal convictions may prevent you from gaining security clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive, check, label and record specimens, maintaining accurate identification, traceability and confidentiality.
- Enter and retrieve case and specimen information using laboratory and administrative systems.
- Store, retrieve, archive and dispose of specimens, blocks, slides and records in accordance with procedures.
- Undertake defined specimen-preparation and routine laboratory tasks following training and competency assessment.
- Clean and decontaminate work areas and equipment and manage laboratory waste safely.
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic maintenance within the limits of the role.
- Monitor consumables, prepare orders and assist with stock control.
- Support document control, filing, correspondence and other general laboratory administration.
- Follow health and safety, quality-management and information-governance requirements.
- Communicate effectively, contribute to the laboratory team and report errors.

Requirements:
- Educated to A Level
- Display excellent attention to detail and integrity at all times
- Great communication and organizational skills
- A willingness to learn and the ability to work to strict deadlines
- Demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach to work and personal development

Additional Information:
- Hours: 37.5 hours per week: Monday - Friday 09:00 - 17:00 based the office in Wantage.
