Lab Test Technician
Are you a recent engineering, chemistry, materials science, or science graduate looking to start your career in clean energy?
Join an innovative energy technology company developing next-generation flow battery systems designed to support a more reliable and sustainable energy system.
This is a highly hands-on opportunity where you'll work alongside engineers and scientists, gaining practical experience across battery assembly, laboratory testing, materials preparation, quality control, and R&D.
You don't need years of industry experience. We're looking for someone practical, curious, and keen to learn who enjoys building things, solving problems, and getting involved in different areas of technical development.
Key Responsibilities – Lab Test Technician
- Prepare materials, components, and samples for laboratory and engineering work
- Support the assembly of battery cells and stacks
- Work with components including electrodes, membranes, gaskets, seals, plates, and fixtures
- Set up and run defined laboratory and engineering tests
- Monitor experiments and accurately record results and observations
- Support engineers with prototype builds and experimental test equipment
- Carry out basic measurements, inspections, and quality checks
- Help maintain accurate component labeling, documentation, and traceability
- Support basic sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition equipment
- Maintain clean, safe, and organized laboratory and technical work areas
- Work across different projects as the technology and team continue to develop

Experience & Skills - Lab Test Technician
- Degree, HNC/HND, apprenticeship, or similar technical background in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, or another relevant subject
- Strong interest in clean energy, batteries, or technology development
- Practical experience gained through university projects, laboratories, Formula Student, internships, placements, personal projects, or similar activities
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow technical procedures
- Willingness to work across both laboratory/materials activities and mechanical assembly
- Curious, proactive, and keen to develop new technical skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-moving start-up environment where priorities can change
