Role purpose
We’re looking for a graphic designer with strong attention to detail to create and maintain labels, packaging, and instructions for use for consumer products and medical devices. You’ll turn approved product and regulatory requirements into clear, accurate artwork that is ready for production across different markets and languages.
You’ll work closely with Regulatory, Quality, Product and Marketing. Regulatory will determine the applicable requirements and approve regulatory content. You’ll be responsible for applying that content accurately, maintaining artwork quality and managing revisions through the agreed approval process.
Key responsibilities
- Create and update product labels, packaging, instructions for use and supporting product artwork.
- Apply requirements supplied or approved by Regulatory for consumer product safety, medical device labelling and packaging information, as applicable to each product and market.
- Accurately incorporate approved warnings, instructions, manufacturer and responsible-party details, conformity marks, symbols, traceability data and disposal information.
- Produce artwork for different product configurations, markets and languages using approved text and translations.
- Create clear, legible layouts that balance regulatory content, usability, brand consistency and available space.
- Prepare print-ready files, checking dimensions, colours, bleed, resolution, fonts, dielines and printer specifications.
- Check proofs against approved master artwork and resolve discrepancies with the relevant teams before production.
- Maintain an organised artwork library, including editable source files, approved masters, version histories and change records.
- Coordinate with printers and suppliers on technical queries and production corrections, ensuring changes follow the approval process.
- Gather stakeholder feedback, flag missing or conflicting information, and obtain the required approvals before releasing artwork for production.

Essential skills and experience
- Experience designing product packaging, labels, or technical product literature, supported by relevant portfolio examples.
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and InDesign.
- Experience preparing artwork for print and working with packaging dielines and printer specifications.
- Excellent attention to detail when handling technical text, symbols, warnings, and multilingual layouts.
- Strong typography and layout skills, with a focus on readability.
- Ability to manage multiple product versions, deadlines and artwork changes.
- Clear communication and a methodical approach to proofreading, version control and feedback.

Desirable experience
- Artwork for medical devices, consumer electrical products or other regulated products.
- Familiarity with the EU General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR), EU and UK medical device labelling, or the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR).
- Experience with controlled document approval processes, product identification codes, barcodes, or Unique Device Identification (UDI).
- Creating clear instructional illustrations and diagrams.
Medical-device experience and prior knowledge of these regulations are desirable but not essential. The Regulatory team will provide regulatory requirements and approved content.
