Company Description:
GFR Analytical Services is an MHRA-approved contract testing laboratory serving the pharmaceutical, food supplement and cosmetics industries. The company provides analytical testing and consultancy services, with a strong focus on GMP QC batch release testing, method development and validation. GFR Analytical Services also offers stability testing and storage in line with ICH guidelines, as well as analytical troubleshooting and remediation.
Role Description:
The Laboratory Analyst is an on-site role based in Blackburn. This role reports to the laboratory Manager and will be responsible for performing routine and non-routine analytical testing on a variety of samples in accordance with GMP and internal quality standards. Daily activities include operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, preparing reagents and samples, documenting test results accurately, to support QC testing, method development, validation and stability studies, along with assisting in troubleshooting analytical issues, while adhering to GMP and safety procedures.

Key Tasks:
- Physical and chemical analysis of Raw Materials and Finished Products employing instrumental methods such as HPLC, UV, FTIR.
- Maintain Compliance with GMP and data integrity guidelines.
- Analytical method development and validation.
- Maintenance of all appropriate records relating to analysis and equipment operations.
- Maintain the laboratory to a high level of cleanliness and good housekeeping.
Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills:
- Core laboratory skills, such as sample preparation, reagent handling, method execution, and compliance with health & safety standards and MHRA GMP.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory equipment e.g. HPLC, UV, FTIR including setup, routine operation, maintenance, and basic calibration.
- Experience of investigating of Out Of Specification (OOS), Out Of Trend (OOT) and Atypical results.
- Familiarity with Chromeleon chromatography data software.
- Relevant scientific degree (e.g., Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry) or equivalent laboratory experience in a GMP/ MHRA-regulated setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including IT skills.
- Ability to follow SOPs and regulatory guidelines, reporting / OOS results/ non-conformance deviations to the Laboratory Manager.
- Ability to work collaboratively, multitask, and meet project timelines.

- Full time (37.5 Hours per week), or
- Part-Time, as agreed.
