About The Role
Pharmaron is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Assistant to join our Cardiff site. In this role you will be responsible for providing essential, hands-on support to the scientific teams through direct laboratory assistance including managing laboratory supplies, cleaning and chemical management and disposal.
This role plays an important part of ensuring a compliant, safe and well-run environment which supports our chemists delivering high quality services to our partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage glassware stocks within the laboratory such that chemists have uninterrupted supply of clean glassware.
- Liaising with chemists and using the daily Kanban system, ensure the laboratory is appropriately stocked and resourced.
- Sweep, clean and wash laboratory floors weekly and monitor the laboratory areas for contamination as requested by the line manager.
- Monthly perform calibration checks on specified equipment.
- Accurately report and document work conducted.
- Receive, check, unpack and log chemicals (commercial or customer supplied) onto the site chemical data base.
- In coordination with stores, distribute lab consumables/chemicals.
- Provide general support in line with skills to enhance productivity and output.
- Fulfil designated tasks relating to waste disposal from the labs, following documented procedures and checks
- To be aware of overall manufacturing requirements of the business and be prepared to volunteer for other duties, where skills allow, in order to support the business.

Candidate Profile
- Experience within a Scientific or GM environment is desirable
- Have an understanding and awareness of the need for good safety processes and procedures
- Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach.
- Excellent planning and organization skills - Ability to multi-task, manage time and accept changing priorities.
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Good stakeholder and relationship management
- Work within and ability to effectively contribute to multi-disciplinary scientific teams and environment
