Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our Metabolism team at our site in Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 37 hours per week

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintain familiarity and competency with general laboratory procedures including balances, pipettes, volumetric glassware, pH meters, reagent preparation, and analytical solution preparation
  • Ensure good housekeeping: correct labelling, accurate raw data recording, disposal of expired reagents, and maintaining tidy storage areas
  • Perform laboratory waste disposal, including sharps and chemical waste
  • Maintain bulk stocks of commonly used reagents (e.g., CMC, MARG emulsion, mobile phases)
  • Maintain stock levels of consumables and critical reagents; reorder when required.
  • Receive and sort deliveries, reporting discrepancies promptly
  • Support Test Article Receipt and Test Article Stock Checks in collaboration with Study Supervisors
  • Perform fridge and freezer defrosts, cleaning, decontamination, and inventories
  • Perform routine metrology of pipettes and ensure scheduled checks of thermometers, check weights, etc
  • Deliver internal post to departmental staff in a timely manner

Minimum Qualifications:

  • GCSE level C/4 or above in Science, Maths and English

Additional Job Standards:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) precisely
  • Good organisational and time‑management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision once trained
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem‑solving
  • Any prior experience using laboratory equipment and basic analytical techniques is advantageous
