Job Description
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer sponsorship for this role.
The purpose of this role will be to be part of the team responsible for the timely and accurate production of media required within the Food and Water microbiology laboratories.
This is a part-time role, working 18.5 hours per week. The following shift patterns are available:
- Monday (07:00-15:00)
- Tuesday (10:00-16:00)
- Wednesday (10:00-16:00)
- Thursday (10:00-16:00)
- Friday (10:00-18:00)
- Saturday (10:00-16:00)
Training hours will be over Monday to Friday between the hours of 06:00 and 16:00.
- Ensure that sufficient media is produced and provided to the laboratory for the required workload and to this purpose, liaise closely with main laboratory and path laboratory technicians and team leaders.
- To produce all media in a safe and appropriate manner, and in line with standard operating procedures.
- To ensure the correct use of PPE at all times.
- To be familiar with COSHH guidelines and working practices within the media laboratory.
- To follow standard operating procedures and safe working practice to ensure the safety of self and colleagues.
- To ensure that all equipment is kept within recommended limits for calibration and maintenance in order to adhere to quality targets.
- Ensure that production work is conducted in a clean and tidy manner with due attention to the careful maintenance of all laboratory fittings and equipment.
- To advise the Laboratory Manager without delay of any problems affecting operations in the production area of the laboratory.
- Ensuring that any relevant paperwork related to the production of media is kept up to date.
- To have a flexible approach to work will be required to assist other departments as and when required.
- Responsible for maintaining some stock inventory.
- Assist with continuous improvement within the microbiology department.

Qualifications
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
- Experience in any type of fast pace production, retail, food environment.
- Full training provided, no laboratory experience required.
- Experience in working in part of a team.
- Good origination and time management.
- Good communication skills.
- Able to self-motivate.
