Job Description
Unfortunately, we are unable to offer visa sponsorship for this role.
The purpose of this role is to work with the laboratory and goods in team to organise and control the stock levels for the Microbiology laboratory. Along with controlling the distribution of consumables to our customer.
Please note this is a part time role, working 20 hours a week - Monday to Friday 18:00 till 20:00.
- Take responsibility for the stock control sheet ensuring it is updated throughout the month and complete at the end of each month to be submitted to finance.
- Order and receipt the stock for all areas of the Microbiology laboratory ensuring they always have sufficient amounts to complete testing on time.
- Unpack stock on arrival into the required location, ensuring they comply with a stock rotation system so that old stock is used before new stock.
- Ensure all stock locations are maintained in an organised, clean and safe manner and help maintain stock rotation.
- Co-ordinate the packing up and distribution of consumables to be sent out to customers, work with logistics to implement the most efficient and cost effective way to complete this.
- Maintain the consumable tracker to ensure the relevant charges are applied to customers for stock distributed.
- Dry pre-poured media ready for use in the laboratory.
- Supplement broths and medias ready for use within the laboratory.
- Work with the waters team to implement and maintain a distribution line between the departments ensuring relevant costing is applied.
- Work aseptically and wear appropriate PPE when in the laboratory.
- Removal of waste from the laboratory throughout the day and maintenance of the hygiene of the internal bins and waste system.
- To be familiar with relevant health and safety legislation and to ensure that all relevant, hazard signs are used when appropriate.
- To carry out any other reasonable tasks as designated by your line manager.

Qualifications
- Educated to GCSE level, or equivalent.
- Experience in working in part of a team.
- It will be desirable to have experience in any type of fast pace production work and be experienced using aseptic techniques.
- High attention to detail.
- Good organisation and time management.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to self motivate.
