Job Description

Join us as a Laboratory Supervisor for our PMU (Performance Mock-Up) team to drive the growth of our organization and deliver real change — in a changing world! The PMU team is responsible for building façade testing in our full-scale test laboratory in Telford where we undertake testing of curtain wall and rainscreen cladding products. It’s therefore vital that you enjoy working outside in all weather conditions!

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the day-to-day delivery of high-quality testing services.
  • Monitors the daily productivity and quality of work, allocates resources as required and troubleshoot/escalate problems as necessary.
  • Schedules, assigns, reviews and coordinates workflow to assure proper utilization and training of lab staff, ensuring all work is in accordance with regulatory and organizational policy, accreditation/compliance requirements.
  • Provides input into the annual budgetary goals, capital expenditure budget for lab equipment and tactical plans for assigned lab team.
  • Contributes to preparing instructions for test methods, procedures, quality control and maintenance procedures.
  • Examines test samples, test performance and provides input regarding issues and/or problems with test/data sheets.
  • Operates machines and lab equipment, may perform routine maintenance of designated test equipment and laboratory area.
  • Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
  • Under supervision, manages the performance of direct reports by defining accountabilities, establishing performance objectives, providing feedback and guidance, assist in hiring and ensuring that all policies are understood and adhered to.

Qualifications

  • Higher secondary education (equivalent to HS Diploma).
  • Technical knowledge and experience gained in a compatible environment - ideally in rainscreen, curtain walling, or cladding testing, or in a similar field such as construction, warehouse.
  • People management experience with demonstrated ability to coach and train others.
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships.
  • Ability to speak credibly in area of own expertise and communicate in a variety of methods.
  • Ability to communicate technical information in a non-technical way.
  • Able to develop and present training materials using a variety of methods (group presentations, video, etc.).
  • Ability to analyze data and trends and draw useful conclusions.
  • Strong customer focus and effective customer service skills.
  • Understands the impact of changes to requirements and can communicate the impact to the test method.
  • Proficiency in English is a must.
