The Role

We're a busy, forward-thinking food testing laboratory and we're growing! Right now, we have several positions available, so there's never been a better time to take that first exciting step into professional laboratory work.

You'll be working hands-on from day one, developing practical skills in real analytical techniques, learning industry-standard processes, and becoming part of a supportive team that takes quality seriously.

About The Role

  • Location: Chatteris
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Contract: Full Time & Permanent
  • Annual Salary: £26,867
  • Closing Date: Monday 10th August 2026
  • Interview Date: Friday 21st August 2026

Available Shifts

We have openings across two shift patterns, with our lab operating Monday–Friday 6:00am–11:00pm and Saturday 6:00am–10:00pm. You'll always be part of a busy, active team, never working alone.

  • Late Shift - Monday to Friday: 1:30pm–10:00pm, perfect if you need your mornings free
  • Weekend Cover: Work either a Saturday or Sunday alongside your weekday shifts, for example Tuesday–Saturday or Sunday–Thursday

The day to day

  • Preparing, plating, and incubating food and environmental samples using aseptic techniques
  • Performing analysis in line with documented methodology
  • Carrying out daily quality control checks and equipment calibrations
  • Keeping accurate and thorough records
  • Maintaining a clean, organised workstation at all times
  • Following all site Health & Safety and Quality Management procedures

The Essentials

  • Comfortable working at pace — experience in any high-throughput or busy environment is a bonus (this could be retail, catering, manufacturing, or a lab!)
  • Confident with IT — you'll be recording data and using lab systems
  • A clear communicator — both in writing and verbally
  • Organised and methodical — you plan ahead and keep on top of tasks
  • Precise and detail-focused — accuracy really matters in what we do
  • Cool under pressure — you can stay focused when it's busy
