Research Technician – Plant Molecular Biology

Are you an early-career molecular biologist looking for the opportunity to develop breakthrough technologies with real-world agricultural impact?
You are a curious, hands-on Research Technician who enjoys generating high-quality experimental data and solving scientific problems at the bench. If you're excited by plant biotechnology, genetic engineering and translational science, we'd love to hear from you.
This is an opportunity to join a growing biotechnology company developing a novel organelle engineering platform to unlock new crop traits that improve productivity, resilience and sustainability.
You'll work closely with experienced scientists and founders, gaining exposure to advanced molecular biology, plant transformation and crop trait development programmes while building the skills needed to develop into an independent research scientist.

The Opportunity
You'll be part of a highly collaborative R&D team focused on advancing innovative crop technologies from concept to application. A core part of the role involves conducting molecular biology and plant biotechnology experiments, generating high-quality data and supporting the optimisation of new scientific workflows. You'll contribute directly to research programmes that aim to address challenges in food security and sustainable agriculture.
What you'll be doing
- Supporting genetic engineering and plant transformation projects
- Using techniques including PCR, cloning, genotyping and sequencing
- Supporting plant tissue culture, propagation and plant growth activities
- Analysing, documenting and communicating experimental results
- Contributing to protocol optimisation and troubleshooting activities

Who we're looking for
We're interested in scientists who are excited by discovery, enjoy working at the bench and want to build a career within a high-growth biotechnology environment.
Essential
- BSc in Plant Science, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Genetics, Biological Sciences or a related discipline
- Practical laboratory experience through academic research, placements, internships or industry
- Knowledge of molecular biology techniques and experimental design
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Scientific curiosity and a willingness to learn new methodologies
