Laboratory Technician
Hooton (Wirral)
Given our continued growth, we are seeking two Laboratory Technicians to join our specialist oral care testing team based in Hooton.
This is an excellent opportunity for a graduate, junior scientist, or someone with a strong technical background who is looking to begin or further develop a career within laboratory science. You'll join a collaborative and highly experienced team, supporting the in-vitro assessment of oral care products while receiving comprehensive training across laboratory techniques, quality systems, and data management.

ABOUT YOU
You are someone who enjoys working in a structured environment, takes pride in producing accurate work, and has a positive, team-focused attitude. You may be a recent science graduate, an aspiring laboratory professional, or someone with transferable technical experience looking to build a long-term career in a laboratory setting.
We're particularly interested in individuals who demonstrate strong computer literacy, a willingness to learn, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with colleagues. The role involves handling human and bovine tooth samples used in testing, so candidates should be comfortable working with these materials.
You'll be joining a close-knit team with very low staff turnover, where collaboration, knowledge sharing, and professional development are actively encouraged.
Required skills and experience:
- Academic background in Science or previous laboratory experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and a conscientious approach to work.
- Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately.
- Good organisational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong willingness to learn and develop new skills.
- Adaptable and flexible approach to work.
- Ability to commute to the Hooton site Monday to Friday (5 days).

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Laboratory Technician, you will support the testing and analysis of oral care products within a busy and growing laboratory environment. You will perform a combination of routine and non-routine laboratory activities, sample preparation, data recording, equipment maintenance, and quality system documentation.
You'll receive training from experienced colleagues and gain exposure to a range of laboratory methods and processes. This role provides an excellent foundation for developing a successful scientific career, with opportunities to progress towards Senior Laboratory Technician as your skills and experience grow.
Working closely with a supportive team, you'll contribute to the successful delivery of customer projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality and accuracy.
Key activities:
- Perform routine and non-routine analytical testing activities within the oral care testing laboratory.
- Prepare hard tissue samples using a variety of cutting and abrading equipment.
- Support sample preparation, analytical measurements, and data collection activities.
- Maintain laboratory documentation in line with quality management system requirements.
- Complete accurate data entry and data verification activities.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment in accordance with established procedures.
- Follow standard operating procedures and laboratory best practices.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver project objectives.
- Support continuous improvement and maintain high standards of laboratory quality.
- Develop technical knowledge and laboratory skills through ongoing training and development.
