Laboratory Technician – Edinburgh

You Matter to Cambrex

Our dedicated 2,400+ professionals across 70+ sites serve branded and generic markets, advancing APIs and dosage forms from discovery through commercialisation—all while prioritising quality, safety, and patient impact.

About This Role

At Cambrex Edinburgh, you’ll play a critical part in the development and testing of pharmaceutical materials for clients across the drug lifecycle. As a Laboratory Technician, your work supports high-impact projects in solid form screening, crystallisation development, and analytical testing—all under an ISO 9001-certified framework.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Care: Perform daily, monthly, and ad hoc calibrations of all lab tools per schedule, ensuring accuracy compliance (e.g., TG/DSC, XRPD, DVS, HPLC, pH meters).
  • Maintenance: Upkeep and troubleshooting of non-specialised lab equipment to prevent downtime.
  • Sample Lifecycle Management:
    • Receive, record ( Liberty FM or lab software), organise, stage and store lab materials/client samples.
    • Transport samples to approved external laboratory vendors as required.
  • Sample Disposal: Safe handling and disposal of lab materials/byproducts.
  • Process Support: Re-process crystalline samples and support ongoing experiments for lab activities.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
