The Company
Tera Mira is a London-based deep-tech start-up replacing elastane, the stretch in almost every garment you own, with an elastic fibre made from seaweed. Elastane is petroleum-derived, impossible to recycle, and a major source of textile microplastics; our fibre is bio-based, biodegradable, and drawn from one of the most abundant renewable feedstocks on the planet.
We were named a winner of the H&M Foundation Global Change Award 2026 and are backed by Innovate UK, the Henry Royce Institute, and others betting on a future where high-performance textiles don't cost the earth.
The Role
As Lab Technician, you'll be the hands that turn polymers derived from seaweed into stretchy fibre. Taking direction from our Senior Biopolymer Scientist and CTO, you'll prepare the materials, run the wet spinning trials, keep the equipment in top condition, and capture the clean, reliable data that we need to progress our R&D. It's methodical work, that's essential the development of our technology.

What You'll Be Doing
- Mix and prepare reagents, solutions and spinning dopes to precise recipes and specifications
- Run wet-spinning trials and operate lab equipment with care, following protocols and safety procedures
- Prepare and label fibre samples for mechanical and performance testing, and run routine tests to method
