What’s new with Aptar

Nanopharm is a prominent player in the Inhalation industry, with our laboratory service provision in Wales, United Kingdom. We specialise in the development and testing of inhalable and nasal pharmaceutical products, collaborating closely with pharmaceutical companies to ensure product safety, efficacy, and regulatory compliance.

We have an exciting position open at Nanopharm, which is an Aptar Pharma Company: Laboratory Technician reporting into Specialist, Equipment Management. These positions will be based in Cwmbran and will involve conducting pharmaceutical product analysis for our customers to a high degree of precision and efficiency.

This position is an integral member of the Operations team and will be responsible for providing professional and effective laboratory checks to ensure the smooth running of the laboratory day to day.

Job Details / Responsibilities

Role Overview

General

  • Responsible for cleaning and replenishing all glassware.
  • Organising and conducting replenishment of consumables, solvents, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Organisation and storage of all chemical substances according to safety instructions, updating stock list and replenishing where needed.
  • Ensuring that generated waste is properly disposed of and managed (proper designation of waste e.g., chlorinated and non-chlorinated).
  • Conduct equipment calibration and planned preventative maintenance (PPM).
  • Organising and conducting daily checks and verifications on critical equipment’s functionality (balances, humidity chambers, fridges/freezers, etc.)
  • Completing relevant laboratory logbooks and making sure they are filled in correctly.
  • Booking of samples, chemicals, columns and reference standards.
  • Work diligently with all chemicals and solutions, ensuring correct storage and handling.
  • Support the Laboratory Supervisor with the replacement/upgrade of laboratory equipment where required.
  • Practice safe work habits, including complying with all safety, health, and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Ensure excellent levels of housekeeping to ensure standards are maintained after the scientists have completed laboratory work.
  • Ensure issues, problems or improvements with the use of the facilities is communicated to senior members of the team promptly.

  • Always comply and proactively engage with Environment, Health, Safety and Sustainability policies, procedures and instructions to ensure the safety of you and your colleagues.
  • Always comply and proactively engage with Quality policies, procedures and instructions to ensure we deliver quality work, data and reports.
  • Read and understand all assigned Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) via the Quality Management System (QMS) in the timeframe specified.
  • Maintain an up-to-date training record and submit to your line manager at least annually for review, making updates and amendments as necessary.
  • Complete timesheets, expenses claims, objectives and appraisals in a timely manner as specified by Stakeholders and in line with the relevant company policies.
  • Ensure confidential information pertaining to the company is not divulged to 3rd parties without the appropriate permission.
  • Ensure use of IT equipment (e.g. phones, laptops, etc.) is in line with the appropriate Aptar policies.

Education, Experience & Relevant Skills

Education & Qualification

  • Preferably a first degree in a science, pharmacy or relevant discipline of grade 2.1 or above could be advantageous but not essential.

Experience

  • Previous experience of working in a lab-based environment (can be previous work or academic experience).

Skills

  • Awareness of regulatory requirements e.g. Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH), Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)
  • Detail orientated person and highly organised.
  • Confident working in a team and using own initiative.
  • Proven flexibility in adjusting to a rapidly evolving workload and remaining calm under pressure.
  • Displays adherence to and promotion of the company values at all times.
  • Takes ownership for own personal development.
