Join an innovative materials technology company developing advanced additive solutions for industrial applications. This is a hands-on laboratory role supporting product development and material characterisation activities through analytical testing, sample preparation, and quality control. You'll work closely with a multidisciplinary R&D team, contributing to the evaluation and validation of new material technologies.
What you'll be doing:
- Preparing test specimens and samples for physical, thermal, and materials testing.
- Performing routine material characterisation using analytical laboratory equipment.
- Conducting thermal analysis, melt flow, and mechanical testing activities.
- Recording, analysing, and reporting laboratory data with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Supporting quality control checks on raw materials and finished products.
- Maintaining laboratory equipment through routine calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Managing laboratory consumables, chemical inventories, and safety documentation.
- Following SOPs, laboratory procedures, and quality standards to ensure reliable results.
- Maintaining a clean, organised, and safe laboratory environment.
- Collaborating with internal teams to support research and development activities.

What you'll need:
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Practical laboratory experience gained through industry, placements, internships, or academic research.
- Understanding of materials testing and analytical laboratory techniques.
- Experience handling laboratory equipment and executing testing protocols accurately.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good data recording, analysis, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently whilst maintaining high laboratory standards.

Nice to have:
- Experience using thermal analysis equipment such as DSC or TGA.
- Experience performing melt flow, rheological, or mechanical testing.
- Knowledge of polymers, plastics, additives, or material development programmes.
- Experience with laboratory data analysis and reporting.
- Familiarity with quality control procedures and laboratory safety requirements.
