Role Description
Job Purpose
To provide an on-site laboratory testing, quality control and quality assurance service for EOL.
Dimensions
- Primary responsibility is Quality Control using laboratory analysis
- To work as part of a small team within the laboratory.
- Capable of using all laboratory equipment.
Principal Responsibilities
- Using a range of bench tests and instrumental techniques to provide Quality Control on incoming materials to ensure compliance with both in-house specifications and EC/UK regulations
- Maintenance of all laboratory equipment to ensure it is in good working order and calibrated to ISO 9000 and CLAS standards.
- Quality Control on outgoing products ensuring they meet specified standards
- Maintenance of all laboratory analysis records, inputting them to computer and manipulation of this data where necessary to generate information.
- To work within and help maintain/update the BSI quality management system within the company.
- Archiving samples for customer reference; making up accurate flavour doses for bulk oil factory production; setting up and training to be a member of the weekly taste panel.
- General laboratory duties as required ensuring it runs smoothly and to COSHH recognised safety standards, including making up solutions, arranging waste disposal and correct labelling of chemicals.
- Assisting with New Product Development
- Participate in sensory evaluation of olive and other specialist oils/products.
- To maintain product Food Safety, Legality, Integrity, Authenticity and Quality standards by ensuring all associated policies and procedures are adhered to.

Role Requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Level 3 qualification in food technology or equivalent
- Competent in the basic laboratory techniques
- Fluent in MS Office applications

- Graduate in food discipline or equivalent
- Experience in the food / drink manufacturing industry
- Raw material testing experience
- Experienced SAP user
- HACCP & Food safety qualifications
