About FluoretiQ
FluoretiQ is pioneering a rapid diagnostic platform for bacteria identification which will ensure that patients receive the best anti-biotic treatment from day one. For patients, this means faster recovery times and for healthcare providers, this means significant cost savings. We are based at Future Space in Bristol with easy access to Bristol Parkway train station and Filton Abbey wood train station.
FluoretiQ is looking for a part-time Lab Technician to join our growing R&D Team, dedicated to creating truly revolutionary bacteria identification systems. You should have working knowledge of processing and analysing bacteria samples, as well as practical laboratory experience and knowledge of the range of techniques used. You will contribute to the development of our rapid diagnostic test for bacterial infections.

You Will
- Maintain a clean and organised laboratory environment
- Prepare culture media, agar plates, buffers and routine lab reagents in accordance with approved procedures
- Monitor laboratory stock levels and keep the lab well-resourced
- Maintain accurate lab records and documentation
- Assist with lab experiments involving the use of bacteria and liquid physiological samples
- Support bacterial culture, characterisation and standardisation activities
- Collaborate with other diverse scientists and engineers to create, revise and implement technical visions
- Ensure that all laboratory activities comply with Health and Safety guidelines, particularly Biological Safety Regulations and Health and Safety at Work Act 1974

Who You Are (Interests, Qualifications and Skills)
- A team player with a strong interest in building a career in the Life Science sector
- Biomedical science/ microbiology student
- Good understanding of bacteria growth
- Awareness of a variety of molecular biology is desirable
- Experience with Aseptic technique
- Good understanding of working in a BSL-2 laboratory
- Good understanding of GLP
- Analytical thinker with good problem-solving skills to overcome technical issues
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
