Labour and Employee Relations Specialist | Employee Relations Specialist | HR Advisor | HR Generalist

Introduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting for a Labour and Employee Relations Specialist to join Cytiva's UK Employee Relations Centre of Expertise.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Employee Relations Specialist, HR Advisor, or HR Generalist to develop their expertise within a globally recognised life sciences organisation. Working as part of the Employee Relations team, you will provide expert advice and guidance to People Leaders, manage a varied ER caseload, and support consistent, compliant, and effective employee relations practices.

Key Duties

  • Manage a broad range of employee relations cases from start to finish, including disciplinary matters, grievances, performance and capability issues, absence management, flexible working requests, and probation reviews.
  • Conduct investigations and support managers through formal hearings and meetings.
  • Draft outcome letters, performance improvement plans, and other case documentation.
  • Provide practical, commercially focused advice to managers on employee relations matters.
  • Escalate complex or high-risk cases where appropriate.
  • Ensure employee relations activities are conducted in line with UK employment law, ACAS guidelines, and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate records through the case management system.
  • Stay up to date with legislative changes and employee relations best practice.
  • Produce and analyse Employee Relations management information (MI), identifying trends and providing insights to support decision-making.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives across the Employee Relations function.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of HR policies, templates, playbooks, and knowledge resources.
  • Coach and support People Leaders to build confidence and capability in managing employee relations matters.
  • Deliver guidance and training on policies, procedures, and best practices to promote consistency across the business.

  • Previous experience within an Employee Relations, HR Advisor, or HR Generalist role.
  • Strong employee relations case management experience.
  • Sound knowledge of UK employment law and employee relations best practice.
  • Experience advising and coaching managers on people-related matters.
  • Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
  • CIPD qualification or working towards CIPD membership is desirable.

The successful candidate will be engaged as an Agency Worker and employed by Acorn Recruitment Ltd (trading as Acorn by Synergie), working under the direction of Cytiva for the duration of the assignment.
