Exciting Opportunity for a Labourer
We have an exciting opportunity for a Labourer to join our Repairs & Maintenance team, based from our Blackburn depot working across Lancashire. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who takes pride in delivering high-quality work and excellent customer service. You'll play a vital role in maintaining our homes, supporting our skilled trades teams and ensuring properties are left safe, clean and ready for residents or the next stage of works.
Working across our housing stock, you'll carry out a wide range of labouring duties, helping us achieve our 'Right First Time' approach by completing work efficiently and to a high standard. No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference to our customers by delivering a responsive, professional and customer-focused service.

Requirements
Outline of key responsibilities in the Labourer role...
- Carry out a wide range of labouring duties across tenanted and empty properties.
- Support repairs and maintenance works, ensuring jobs are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Complete making good works, painting, surface preparation and wallpaper stripping.
- Safely remove kitchens, bathrooms and associated fixtures, fittings and waste materials, leaving properties clean and ready for follow-on works.
- Work closely with trade colleagues to maximise productivity and support the successful completion of repairs.
- Deliver a 'Right First Time' service, resolving repairs wherever possible in a single visit.
- Communicate professionally with customers, providing an excellent level of customer service at every stage.
- Carry out dynamic risk assessments and work in accordance with health and safety legislation and company procedures.
- Maintain accurate records using paper-based or electronic systems.
- Measure works, identify material requirements and collect materials where required.
- Take responsibility for the safe use and security of company vehicles, tools, equipment and materials.
- Keep company vehicles clean, carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects promptly.

We are looking for someone who has...
- Experience of manual handling and working within a practical environment.
- Experience of delivering excellent customer service.
- Experience of working within a repairs and maintenance environment is desirable.
- A good understanding of health and safety and safe working practices.
- Knowledge of basic construction trades and site safety.
- The ability to organise your own workload and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Experience of accurately completing work records and using handheld or electronic systems.
- A positive, reliable and flexible approach to work.
- An understanding of the importance of treating every customer with respect, professionalism and empathy.
- A full UK manual driving licence, as you'll be provided with a company van and will travel between our properties throughout the working day.
- Flexibility to work additional hours where required to meet service demands.

Benefits
In return, we are offering the successful candidate in the Labourer role...
- Starting salary of £25,878
- 27 days holiday (rising to 32 over 5 years' service) + bank holidays
- Based at our Blackburn depot
- Covering the Lancashire area
- A flexible working environment, with a range of family friendly policies
You will be required to work a total of 37 hours each week, with your typical schedule being from 8am to 4pm from Monday to Thursday, and 8am to 3:30pm on Friday.
Scheduled between 08:00 and 19:30 across any five days from Monday to Saturday. The exact schedule will depend on business needs at the time. However, to give an idea, a typical working week may be Monday to Thursday from 08:00 to 16:00 and Friday from 08:00 to 15:30. Please note that this is subject to change based on business requirements.
