Software Development Engineer
Omiga Technology has developed data acquisition and control solutions for over 25 years, deployed in aerospace, petrochem, production, and research environments. The core development environment for most of the projects Omiga undertakes is NI LabVIEW. In-house hardware design and manufacturing capability enable Omiga to offer a complete solution to its client base.
We are looking for a LabVIEW software development engineer to join our team where you'll play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining software solutions. We work with cutting-edge technologies that impact real-world applications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, interacting directly with customers to design and develop predominantly NI LabVIEW-based applications:
- Design, develop, and test software applications using LabVIEW for real-time control and data acquisition systems
- Providing timely, accurate, and effective solutions to technical problems
- Providing guidance on the installation and working functionality of both software and hardware, including explanation of configuration settings
- Integrate software with hardware components and sensors, troubleshooting, and ongoing improvements of control systems in industrial or laboratory environments
- Reproducing and troubleshooting problems and incompatibilities in both software and hardware
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of software development practices and tools
- Travel in the UK, occasional overseas

Qualifications & Requirements:
All below are desired but not each one is essential. If you have a combination of a few items below and are the right character, it is definitely worth getting in touch:
- Minimum 2.1 honours degree in engineering or science-related field, such as Electrical/electronic engineering, physics, mechatronics, or computer science
- LabVIEW qualification of Certified LabVIEW Developer, or capable of passing the exam within 3-6 months
- Ideally one continuous year’s practical experience in instrumentation & control, industrial automation, or ATE development
- Knowledge and experience of NI embedded systems, including LabVIEW FPGA and LabVIEW Real Time
- Experience with NI hardware (CompactRIO, PXI, cDAQ systems, etc.)
- Experience of National Instruments visual toolkits is advantageous
- Experience working with instrumentation, sensors, transducers, etc.
- Practical electrical fault-finding experience
- Experience in a second language, i.e., RUST, Python, or C++
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a collaborative mindset
- Legal right to live and work in the UK. Sponsorship is not available
- Must hold a full clean and valid UK driving license
