Company Description

The Performance Studios is a dynamic multi-award-winning creative hub in the heart of Lancaster, offering professional studio spaces, in-house events, and creative opportunities for young people and adults. As home to The Performance School, the organisation delivers high-quality training in singing, dancing, and acting, helping emerging performers build confidence and skills. The LAMDA qualification is an enriching extension to The Performance School's weekend classes and is delivered throughout the week via 1-1 lessons.

Role Description

The LAMDA Teacher / Performing Arts Teacher will deliver engaging, syllabus-based LAMDA and performing arts classes on a 1-1 basis with children and young people, ensuring lessons are well-structured, inclusive, and aligned with examination requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

The teacher will collaborate with colleagues to coordinate timetables, support studio events and performances, and contribute to a positive, safe, and creative learning environment. This is a part-time freelance role based at The Performance Studios in Lancaster, requiring regular weekday availability in line with the studio's current LAMDA schedule.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong teaching skills, with experience in performing arts or LAMDA delivery and Arts Education, supported by effective lesson planning
  • Ability to design and refine Curriculum Development for acting, voice, and performance, tailoring content for different age groups and abilities
  • Practical experience in creative disciplines such as Acting, Singing, Dance, or related performance areas
  • Recognised teaching qualification or performing arts certification (e.g., LAMDA or equivalent), and experience preparing learners for exams or public performances
  • Excellent communication, classroom management, and organisational skills, with a commitment to safeguarding and inclusive practice
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a creative team, maintain accurate records of learner progress, and engage positively with families and the wider community
