Stafford Borough & Cannock Chase District Councils,

Land Charges Assistant (RL251)

Grade C: £25,948.96 - £25,989 per annum, pro rata (pay award pending)

Permanent, 16 hours per week

working hours: 9am – 1pm Monday – Thursday

About The Role

We are seeking a Land Charges Assistant to join our established and supportive Land Charges Service, working across Cannock Chase District.

Working alongside the Land Charges officer you will respond to requests for land registry searches from solicitors and personnel search companies.

You will assist in maintaining the statutory register of charges and record these and search results on our software system.

Entering data and extracting it from the software system and responding to requests for information are an integral part of the role. As part of this you will need to communicate to external agencies and with internal colleagues to confirm accuracy of data.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the ongoing development of our service including being part of the delivery of the national HMLR Local Land Charges migration programme supporting managers and leaders across the local authority. You will be at the heart of a varied and rewarding workload, helping to deliver high‑quality services to our communities.

About You

You will be:

  • Qualified to GCSE Level A-C or above (or able to demonstrate equivalent vocational experience)
  • Experienced in Windows Software, working across a broad range of clerical duties
  • Confident operating in a public sector or similarly complex environment
  • Collaborative, professional and committed to delivering high‑quality Land Charges service.
