Job Introduction

An exciting opportunity is available for a Land Rights and Consents Specialist to join our team based in Swansea.

In this role, you will negotiate specialist consents, wayleaves, easements, and land agreements relating to our electricity distribution network, while supporting the resolution of complex land and damage claims. You will also provide guidance and training to colleagues on estates and survey-related matters, helping to develop expertise across the team.

As part of our hybrid working approach, this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can be considered once initial training has been completed, typically within 6-12 months and subject to business requirements.

Main Responsibilities

  • Negotiate specialist consents, wayleaves, easements, and agreements in respect of the location of distribution assets.
  • Managing and settling damage claims.
  • Assessing the potential impact of a specific work activity on customers and advising customers affected of the impact of activities.
  • Resolving customer enquiries and complaints.
  • Investigating and reporting on estate-related matters.
  • Exercise leadership.
  • Introduce new wayleaves, easements, consents, and agreements techniques and methods.
  • Train appropriate staff on the aspects of wayleaves, easements, consents, and agreements.
  • Keep abreast of estates-related development.
  • Assess site risks, and take action to remove or avoid those risks.
  • Report any accident, injury, damage to property, or near miss.
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities for service improvement.
  • Issue work to contractors, and approve daily work sheets.
  • Carry out quality and compliance checks on contractors works.

Ideal Candidate

We are interested in hearing from candidates that can demonstrate:

  • The ability to engage and communicate effectively with customers, landowners, and Local Authorities.
  • High standards of accuracy, quality, and attention to detail.
  • An organized, proactive, and collaborative approach to delivery and problem-solving.
  • The ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with competing priorities.

You'll have knowledge of wayleaves, easements, and land agreements, along with relevant environmental legislation. Knowledge of electricity distribution networks, overhead lines, and underground cables, along with experience using geographic mapping systems and maintaining electronic records, would be beneficial.

As travel across the area is required, a full UK driving licence is essential.

Full training and support will be provided. The successful candidate will be expected to work towards and achieve the Assessment of Professional Competence (APC). Please note that initial appointment may be at a lower salary until all required training and qualifications have been successfully completed.

Evidence of your qualifications will be required prior to appointment.
