Location: TEXO, Witham, Essex and Leeds

Contract: Full-time

The Opportunity

TEXO is currently seeking an experienced and reliable Land Surveyor to join our Witham-based team, and another to be based from Leeds.

The successful candidate will support a varied portfolio of land, topographic, engineering, laser scanning and mobile mapping projects throughout the UK.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in 3D laser scanning, total station surveying and GPS/GNSS operations. A strong understanding of traversing and establishing survey control networks is essential, together with the ability to process survey data and produce accurate, high-quality deliverables.

The role will also involve supporting UAS operations and utility surveys when required.

Regular UK-wide travel and overnight stays will be required. Candidates must therefore be flexible and comfortable working away from home when projects require it.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting land, engineering and topographic surveys
  • Undertaking terrestrial laser scanning and mobile mapping surveys
  • Operating total stations, GPS/GNSS equipment and other survey instruments
  • Establishing, checking and maintaining survey control networks
  • Completing traversing, levelling and control surveys
  • Processing survey data using N4CE and Leica Cyclone
  • Producing accurate CAD drawings, models and survey documentation
  • Establishing control networks to support UAS operations
  • Assisting with UAS survey activities where required
  • Supporting utility surveys, including PAS 128 activities
  • Checking survey data and deliverables for accuracy and completeness
  • Completing site documentation, risk assessments and survey records
  • Liaising professionally with clients, contractors and site teams
  • Ensuring survey equipment is maintained and ready for use
  • Delivering all work safely, efficiently and to a high professional standard

Essential Requirements

  • Previous experience undertaking land, engineering or topographic surveys
  • Experience operating total stations and GPS/GNSS equipment
  • Experience undertaking 3D laser scanning
  • Strong understanding of traversing and survey control
  • Ability to process and present survey data accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a survey team
  • Good communication and client-facing skills
  • Strong commitment to health, safety and quality
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Valid CSCS card

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience using N4CE
  • Experience using Leica Cyclone or similar point-cloud software
  • Experience producing drawings using AutoCAD
  • Experience using mobile mapping systems
  • Experience supporting UAS operations
  • Knowledge of PAS 128 and utility surveying
  • Relevant surveying, geospatial or engineering qualification
