We’re looking for a passionate Land Sustainability Officer to join our Operational Readiness Team!
National Grid Electricity Transmission manages a diverse portfolio of Environmental Partnership Agreements (EPAs), Environmental Education Centres (EECs), and Environmental Value initiatives across its non-operational land portfolio. This role offers a unique opportunity to work across a varied range of environmental partnerships and sites, supporting activities that deliver tangible benefits for biodiversity, nature recovery, environmental education, and local communities, while helping to achieve National Grid's commitments within its Social and Environmental Action Plan (SEAP) and wider business objectives.
You'll also support the team's responsibility for ensuring customer compliance with National Grid's Restoration and Compensation (R&C) principles where customer connection projects or other customer-led activities impact non-operational land. This includes supporting the incorporation of R&C requirements into relevant legal agreements, maintaining robust evidence and records, and reviewing customer proposals, plans, and progress updates to help ensure agreed restoration or compensation measures are appropriate, deliverable, and being implemented in line with National Grid's principles.
This is a variable-base role, with Warwick serving as the primary location for team meetings, collaboration, and business activities. We encourage a hybrid approach to working, with the flexibility to work remotely alongside office-based attendance as required.
The role also involves occasional travel to sites across the UK, typically around once per month, to support stakeholder engagement, site visits, and programme delivery. We're happy to discuss any additional flexibility that could help make this role work for you.
What You’ll Do
- Coordinate and take day-to-day responsibility for the Environmental Partnership Agreement (EPA) portfolio and associated Environmental Value activities.
- Organise and manage quarterly review meetings with EPA partners, including preparing agendas, capturing minutes, tracking actions, and ensuring follow-up activities are progressed.
- Support and coordinate Environmental Education Centre relationships and associated reporting requirements, ensuring actions and outputs are delivered to agreed timescales.
- Maintain and manage programme trackers, action logs, governance records, and reporting dashboards, identifying issues and keeping information accurate and up to date.
- Coordinate ecology surveys and monitoring activities associated with EPA and EEC sites.
- Support and coordinate Environmental Value reporting requirements, performance monitoring, and environmental value maintenance activities, collating information, tracking delivery outputs, and producing clear outputs for review.
- Coordinate annual EPA conference and wider partner engagement activities.

What You’ll Have
- Suitable qualification or equivalent experience within an environmental, sustainability, ecology, geography, planning, land management, or related discipline.
- Broad environmental and sustainability knowledge, including awareness of biodiversity, natural capital, environmental value, habitat creation, environmental education, and wider sustainability initiatives.
- Strong project and programme management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders, actions, and reporting requirements simultaneously and progress work independently once priorities are agreed.
- Stakeholder engagement experience and the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including environmental partners, consultants, and suppliers.
- Strong organizational skills with experience managing governance processes, trackers, reports, and programme documentation.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and evolving environment whilst maintaining a high level of organisation and professionalism.
