Language Associate (French)

Department: Campaigns
Employment Type: Part Time
Location: Remote

Description

Position overview
Remote | Part-Time (Approx. 20 hours/week)

This is an exciting consultant position that offers a unique opportunity to support large-scale social change efforts. Language Associates bring Avaaz to millions of people each week by translating Avaaz campaigns from English into key languages and rewriting them to be fitting to local contexts. This role requires strong written communication skills and cultural awareness that allow you to capture the heart of Avaaz’ campaigns and powerfully translate them into French language.

The successful candidate for this part-time position (20 hours/week) will work closely with the French language lead and with the Member Support and Community Petitions teams, and they will report to an Avaaz staffer. Please note that this position is on a freelance/independent contractor basis.

Responsibilities

  • Translate Avaaz campaigns from English to French to turn them into strong, emotive, and compelling campaigns to send out in France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada, and to French-speaking members around the world.
  • Hands-on technical support for campaign development, including setting up email blasts and landing pages in the Avaaz website backend interface, and supporting the drafting and testing of campaigns.
  • Looking for sources for campaigns -- finding relevant, issue-specific, supporting materials from the press, NGOs, etc.
  • Monitor and enhance the French Avaaz website and other tools for functionality and language errors, supporting clear and effective communication with members.
  • Support the French campaign team to write and edit excellent campaign materials such as briefings, advocacy letters, and press releases. Translate and/or edit other materials as necessary: media material, content for social media etc.
  • Reviewing, managing, and supporting the petitions published by French members on the Avaaz Community Petitions website.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
