Role Description

The Large Format Production Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at our Pontypool facility. This role oversees day-to-day production of large format print and display items, ensuring jobs are scheduled, resourced, and completed on time and to specification. The Production Manager coordinates workflow across machinery and teams, monitors quality standards, and troubleshoots production issues to maintain efficient operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and developing production staff
  • Implementing health and safety procedures
  • Liaising with account managers and pre-press teams
  • Optimizing material usage and processes to reduce waste
  • Maintaining equipment
  • Tracking performance metrics
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the large format department
  • Visiting site surveys with customers

Qualifications

  • Experience managing large format print production, including scheduling, workflow planning, and resource allocation. At least 4 years of experience
  • Strong knowledge of large format printing processes, substrates, finishing techniques, and relevant machinery operation.
  • Proven ability to lead and supervise production teams, including performance management, training, and staff development.
  • Competence in quality control, health and safety compliance, and adherence to production standards and procedures.
  • Good communication and collaboration skills for working with sales, design, pre-press, and logistics teams.
  • Solid organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Basic IT literacy, including use of production management systems, job ticketing, and reporting tools.
  • Previous experience in print, packaging, or display production; experience in a large format or wide-format environment is highly advantageous.
  • Understanding of sustainable production practices and an interest in continuous process improvement.
  • Relevant vocational qualifications or apprenticeship in print, production management, or a related field are beneficial.
