About Zego

Insurance hasn't changed much in over a century. The way we live, work and travel has.

Good drivers are the entire point of Zego. Seven in 10 drivers on the road are consistently good, but until telematics came along there was no way to prove it, so nearly everyone paid a price based on averages. Zego is the company built to change that.

At Zego, we're leading the AI evolution in insurance.

We move fast, without the layers that usually slow things down. AI takes the routine work off every team, from Finance to Product to Marketing, so people ship real code and launch custom dashboards in minutes. Engineering commits are entirely AI-assisted, which shifts the focus from team size to the quality of your thinking, and our data warehouse connects directly to an AI assistant for instant answers. Backed by a modern tech stack (Claude Code, Snowflake, Figma and Zapier) and a commitment to adopting new tools in days rather than quarters, you get complete ownership to do the most impactful work of your career.

Purpose of role

Reporting to the Third party and Complex Claims Manager, the Claims Handler will manage their own portfolio of motor cases, focusing on claims exceeding £100k including losses for injury, credit hire, vehicle and property damage. This position requires not only excellent communication and negotiation skills but also a deep understanding of liability, indemnity, and quantum issues to effectively drive down claims costs while ensuring fair compensation for injured claimants. The role also involves handling large loss claims and acting as a technical referral point to provide coaching, mentoring, and training to the claims handling teams.

What you will be doing

  • Manage a personal portfolio of complex and high-value motor cases, setting accurate reserves at inception and maintaining a clear claims strategy from first notification to resolution
  • Communicate effectively with customers, witnesses, insurers, repairers, solicitors, and medical agencies to expedite claim resolutions
  • Participate in strategic projects to keep the team at the forefront of industry trends and performance, and contribute portfolio insights to inform product and underwriting decisions
  • Investigate liability disputes thoroughly, gathering and assessing evidence including CCTV, dashcam footage, police reports, and witness statements to build a defensible position; manage Road Traffic Act obligations and Motor Insurers' Bureau (MIB) claims where applicable
  • Critically evaluate and challenge all heads of damage - general damages, special damages, care and assistance, loss of earnings, future losses, and rehabilitation costs, applying relevant case law
  • Scrutinise medical evidence from treating and expert witnesses, challenging speculative or inflated prognoses and instructing counter-experts where appropriate
  • Negotiate settlements directly with claimant solicitors and defendants, targeting outcomes that are fair, defensible, and below reserve
  • Challenge inflated credit hire claims using evidence of basic hire rates, need, and impecuniosity; make sound total loss and repair decisions aligned with market valuations and engineering assessments
  • Conduct structured file reviews and one-to-one coaching sessions with the broader claims team, contributing to training materials, technical guidance notes, and best practice documentation
  • Handle all claims in line with FCA Consumer Duty obligations, maintaining thorough file documentation, clear audit trails, and adherence to reserving protocols and authority levels at all times

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
