Laser Operative

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Laser Operative to set and operate Trumpf laser cutting machines to produce accurate, high-quality components in accordance with customer drawings, specifications, and production requirements, while maintaining safety, efficiency, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Set and operate Trumpf laser cutting machines, making adjustments to achieve optimum cutting performance and quality.
• Verify material grade, thickness, finish, sheet size, job pack, and NC programmes before production.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and ensure components meet dimensional and quality requirements.
• Monitor cut quality throughout production and take corrective action where required.
• Inspect finished parts for accuracy, damage, surface condition, and suitability for subsequent processes.
• Handle stainless steel, polished, grained, anodised, and other finished materials carefully to prevent damage.
• Maximise material utilisation by effectively using suitable offcuts and requesting re-programming where necessary.
• Clearly label and store offcuts with the required material and job information.
• Carry out routine and preventative maintenance, including machine checks, cleaning, and maintaining water, oil, and other required levels.
• Identify and report machine faults, wear, or maintenance requirements to minimise downtime.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area and comply with all health and safety requirements.
• Accurately record production times and job information using ERP and complete all required documentation.
• Communicate production issues and improvement opportunities to management.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity, reduce waste, and prevent errors.
