At DiPOLE Systems, we’re developing next-generation high-power laser systems for advanced manufacturing, energy and defence applications. Following our recent seed round, we’re expanding our engineering and science team as we scale from prototype systems to deployable products.
We’re looking for a Laser Scientist to support the development of our next-generation laser systems — from concept and modelling through to build, test and manufacture.
What you’ll do
- Support laser system design from concept through prototype testing and optimisation
- Build, align and integrate optical assemblies, laser subsystems and test setups
- Test, characterise and analyse laser performance, producing clear technical recommendations
- Develop models and test plans to support subsystem and system validation
- Work with engineering teams on design reviews, documentation and technology transfer into product programmes

What we’re looking for
- A background in physics, photonics, optical engineering or a related discipline, gained through a PhD, equivalent industrial experience, or substantial hands-on laser development experience
- Good understanding of laser physics and optical systems
- Hands-on experience building, aligning and troubleshooting laser systems
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams

Salary: £50k–£65k + share options
Location: Didcot, Oxfordshire (primarily on-site)
