We're delighted to be supporting SaxaVord Spaceport in the appointment of a Launch Site Electrician.

This is a rare opportunity to join one of the UK's most innovative engineering environments, supporting the development, maintenance and safe operation of electrical systems across the spaceport and associated facilities. You'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability of launch infrastructure, ground support systems and power distribution networks in a mission-critical setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, test, commission and maintain electrical infrastructure.
  • Carry out fault finding and repairs to ensure operational readiness.
  • Support preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Provide electrical support during launch operations and critical activities.
  • Assist with power distribution, backup systems and launchpad electrical interfaces.
  • Interpret electrical drawings, schematics and technical specifications.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical and safety standards.
  • Support testing, commissioning and continuous improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, contractors and launch partners.

About You

  • Qualified Electrician with experience in industrial, infrastructure or safety-critical environments.
  • ECS Gold Card.
  • Experience with commercial and domestic electrical installations.
  • Confident working on single and three-phase electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with PLCs, SCADA systems or automation is advantageous.
  • Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Willing to undertake security clearance as required.

Desirable

  • Experience within aerospace, defence, energy or large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and integrated management systems.
  • Experience working in remote environments or challenging logistics locations.
  • Knowledge of Shetland and local logistics
