Law Director

The City of Middletown is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Law Director. This position is responsible for managing all City legal affairs, and requires counseling and advising City Council, City Manager, department directors, and the City’s official boards, commissions and agencies on legal matters of interest to the City. Ensures the City is properly represented in all legal proceedings, and that all contracts, deeds, bonds, and other official documents are approved for substance, form, and legality. Administrative direction is exercised over a staff of professional and clerical employees. Work is performed under general direction with wide latitude for the exercise of independent judgment and initiative.

Juris doctorate or equivalent degree from an accredited law school, licensed to practice law in the State of Ohio and in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and a member in good standing of the Ohio State Bar Association. Thorough experience in the practice of municipal legal work, including experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity; or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, abilities and skills.

Salary Range: $125,835 to $181,708 annually plus excellent benefits package.
