Job Summary
HM Land Registry is looking for a Lawyer and Business Support Officer to join our Lawyer and Business Support Team (LBST). This is an exciting opportunity to support legal operations at the heart of the organisation, working alongside Land Registration Lawyers, Land Registrars and senior leaders across the Legal Operations Group.
In this varied and rewarding role, you will provide high-quality executive and business support, helping to ensure that operational and strategic priorities are delivered effectively. You'll be a trusted point of contact for senior colleagues, helping to coordinate activities, manage information and support decision-making across a dynamic and professional environment.
Job Description
As a Lawyer and Business Support Officer, you will play a vital role in enabling the smooth and effective delivery of legal operations across HM Land Registry. No two days will be the same. You could be coordinating senior leaders' priorities, organising key governance meetings, supporting recruitment activity, preparing briefing materials or helping implement new ways of working.
We're looking for someone who is highly organised, confident communicating with a wide range of people, and able to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion. Main Duties
As a Lawyer and Business Support Officer, You Will:
- Act as a trusted point of contact for senior leaders within the Lawyer and Business Support Team, managing enquiries and information professionally and sensitively.
- Provide proactive diary management and meeting support, ensuring senior leaders' time is used effectively and aligned to business priorities.
- Support effective decision-making by managing competing priorities and helping leaders focus on key objectives.
- Draft, coordinate and quality assure a range of communications, briefings, reports and correspondence for internal and external audiences.
- Track and monitor actions arising from governance meetings, ensuring they are progressed and completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinate recruitment, onboarding and resourcing activities, working in partnership with HR and recruitment colleagues.
- Support business planning and performance activities through collation, analysis and reporting of information and data.
- Organise and facilitate meetings, workshops, conferences and events, both face-to-face and virtually.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with lawyers, registrars, business support colleagues and stakeholders across HM Land Registry.
- Support the implementation of new initiatives, processes and standard operating procedures.
- Manage sensitive or urgent matters calmly and professionally, escalating where appropriate.
- Coach and support colleagues within the business support community when required.
- Contribute flexibly to wider team priorities and operational delivery.
- Take ownership of your development and identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working.

Person Specification
To be successful in this role, you will be required to demonstrate the following criteria throughout the recruitment process.
