Salary: PT6 £49,651 - £55,859 (dependent on experience)

The London Borough of Bromley is seeking a motivated and skilled Lawyer - Contracts and Procurement to join our established and forward-thinking Commercial Legal Team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a broad range of commercial, procurement, and regeneration matters that directly support the borough’s strategic ambitions. You will manage a varied caseload, develop your expertise, and contribute to delivering clear, pragmatic legal solutions within a high-performing local authority.

Your Role

  • Manage a varied caseload of contracts and procurement matters, with increasing complexity as you develop
  • Provide clear and practical legal advice to officers and elected members
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and tender documentation
  • Advise on procurement law, contract disputes, data protection, and FOI matters
  • Support commercial, regeneration, and cross-council projects
  • Contribute to effective service delivery, including case management and time recording systems
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders across the organisation
  • Support modernisation, including digital initiatives and continuous improvement

About You

We are looking for a qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or FCILEx with a current practising certificate, who can demonstrate:

  • Experience advising on contracts and procurement law
  • Ability to manage a busy and varied workload, prioritising effectively
  • Good drafting skills and attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain legal issues clearly and pragmatically
  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with a commitment to learning and development
  • An interest in local government and public sector work

Experience within local government or the public sector is desirable but not essential.
