Position Title: Layout System Integration BIM Engineer
Duration: Contract
Location: Whitley

The Opportunity:

The role is for the Design Integration, Layout Integration BIM Lead Engineer for Global Manufacturing Engineering, responsible for rolling out and leading Layout Integration and BIM methodology from concept to the delivery phase to JOB1 + 90 days.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • The Design Integration, Layout System Integration Engineer is responsible for supporting the delivery of BIM-enabled facility integration activities from concept through to project completion (JOB1 + 90), ensuring compliance with defined standards, processes, and digital engineering methodologies across GME programmes.
  • Responsible for aspects of BIM development through time.
  • Experience of federated model coordination, design review and clash detection processes.
  • Support implementation of Common Data Environment (CDE), digital asset management and digital twin information management processes within projects.
  • Support the application of BIM methodology and Layout System Integration processes across GME projects.
  • Apply Client BIM standards (the Clients' Way) within Facilities design and delivery activities.
  • Support integration activities across programme delivery, construction, and digital estates functions.
  • Support L1-L5 Layout System Integration reviews and buy-off activities.
  • Deliver project outputs in line with programme timing and gateway requirements.
  • Participate in cross-functional design reviews to support integration readiness and design assurance.
  • Utilise approved Layout Integration Standard toolsets to develop and coordinate facility layouts.
  • Follow established digital workflows and interoperability requirements across project teams.
  • Develop and maintain 4D simulation models and digital rehearsals to support installation planning, logistics reviews, stakeholder engagement, and programme delivery activities.
  • Undertake reality capture and Scan-to-BIM activities including LiDAR scanning, point cloud processing, model validation using Navisworks, Revit and Verity.
  • As-built verification and digital record updates.
  • Contribute to lessons learned activities and continuous improvement of standards and processes.
  • Develop competence in: BIM workflows, Digital engineering tools, Layout System Integration methodologies.
  • Support wider business priorities as directed by line management.
  • Maintain compliance with Client standards, health and safety requirements, and governance processes.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Demonstrable working knowledge and experience of Autodesk BIM and Layout design toolset.
  • Demonstrable previous experience and background in layout development.
  • Demonstrable previous experience of Digital facility asset storage and revision control system.
  • Demonstrable previous experience of delivering programme KPIs and targets.
  • Demonstrable previous experience of BIM attributes and application levels.
  • Experience coordinating technical activities across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Experience in production sites.
  • Ability to develop and deliver presentations to work groups and management.
  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Microsoft package elements Power Point, Teams, Planner and Excel.
  • Thorough Understanding and Application of Lean Tools and Techniques.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills & Experience:

  • Experience using BIM, CAD and digital engineering toolsets relevant to facility and manufacturing design.
  • Experience working with 3D models, design coordination, federated model reviews and layout development within a project environment.
  • Experience supporting the delivery of projects to programme timing, quality and cost targets.
  • Experience of production process flow analysis and problem solving within complex technical environments.
  • Understanding of BIM methodologies, model information requirements, Common Data Environment (CDE) principles and digital engineering workflows.
  • Experience of digital document, asset management and revision-controlled environments.
  • Experience supporting the deployment, adoption and continuous improvement of emerging digital engineering technologies, BIM methodologies and innovative ways of working to improve project delivery, engineering efficiency, data quality and digital capability across GME programmes.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary design coordination and stakeholder engagement.
  • Experience working within manufacturing, industrial or production environments.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical information to a range of stakeholders.
  • Effective team player with a collaborative and proactive approach to problem solving.
  • Demonstrates integrity, resilience and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience within an automotive manufacturing environment.
  • Experience of facility design, construction, manufacturing engineering or capital project delivery.
  • Experience of programme integration and delivery processes within automotive or industrial engineering environments.
  • Experience using digital engineering platforms such as Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), Verity, Inventor, PDM systems or equivalent toolsets.
  • Experience supporting Scan-to-BIM, reality capture, LiDAR scanning or point cloud modelling workflows.
  • Experience developing, coordinating or reviewing 4D simulations, digital rehearsals and installation sequencing activities.
  • Understanding of digital twin methodologies and asset information management principles.
  • Understanding of BIM maturity levels, ISO 19650 standards, information management requirements and RIBA stages.
  • Experience supporting the evaluation, pilot deployment or adoption of emerging digital engineering technologies, automation tools, AI-enabled workflows or innovative engineering methods.
  • Degree in Engineering, Construction, Architecture, Digital Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Understanding of data analytics, automation, AI-assisted & generative engineering workflows or model-based delivery techniques.
